To kick off the Owned Voices workshops, we’re going to start with the theme of beginnings.
The workshop will be comprised of:
Creative writing exercises designed to help build brilliant book openings
An exploration of the best ways to present your first pages of work when submitting them to agents and publishers
A discussion of the creative pieces submitted ahead of the workshop
A visit from an industry guest speaker
The opportunity to ask publishing executive Leodora Darlington questions about routes into the industry that haven’t been answered over the course of the workshop
If you’d like to be considered for a place, please head to the ‘apply’ page and submit either the first 2,000 words of a novel (the novel need not be complete) or a short story on the theme of beginnings.
Each submitted piece will receive feedback from workshop leader, Leodora Darlington. You will also be expected to read the other successful applicants’ pieces ahead of the workshop.
Applications close February 9th 2019, but places will be allocated as applications come in, so best to apply early!
